MEND IT with a patch by Janet Morton

This MEND IT Kit produced by FELT features a limited edition patch by artist Janet Morton that literally and figuratively extends a thread to the receiver to take on the project of mending.

dittybag’s inaugural event took the form of a pop-up booth at the Crafting Sustainability conference organized by Craft Ontario and the Material Art and Design Department (MAAD) at the Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCADU) in Toronto, March 2015.

We set up shop in the conference hub and gave out "MEND IT" kits featuring a patch designed by award-winning Canadian visual artist Janet Morton while our 'celebrity' mender masterfully demonstrated the fine art of patching a hole. Participants were given a kit in exchange for joining the dittybag network.

Janet Morton has exhibited her work across Canada and abroad including at Textile Museum of Canada, The Power Plant and The National Gallery of Canada. Her knit and sewn works often take stitching to monumental proportions allowing it to grow beyond the small garments and accessories to which it is typically confined. She lives and works in Guelph, Ontario and is represented by Paul Petro Contemporary Art, Toronto.
