MEND IT at Comrags

As part of the exhibition DO Design curated by Julie Nicholson for the Toronto Offsite Design Festival in 2016, this project paired dittybag with Canadian veteran fashion label Comrags. This collaboration featured a limited edition of one hundred mending kits designed by Comrags, produced by dittybag, and displayed in the designers' storefront window. Interested viewers were given a kit while supplies lasted. As darkness fell, a film of hands sewing appeared in the second floor studio window revealing a series of mends that inspire a meditation on this fading practice.

The film featured local menders Alexx Boisjoli, Judy Cornish, Kerry Croghan, Judy Gunhouse, Kristen Lim Tung, Colleen McCarten, Kathryn Walter and Greg Woodbury. The documentation above shows a projection of Arounna Khounnoraj mending.
